About the Opera Collection
In the Opera collection, Jacob & Co. combines sophisticated watchmaking with iconic film themes, translated into detailed compositions and playful sounds.Â
With the first watch in the series, the Opera Godfather, Jacob & Co. ventured in 2015 into the visual and artisanal realization of one of the greatest classics of all time: Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather." The watch was created in a new official partnership with Paramount Pictures Consumer Products, the feature film's production and distribution company. With a series of artistic details and technically sophisticated complications, the Jacob & Co. Opera Godfather tells the epic mafia plot in images and sound. The presentation of the individual components in black and rose gold perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the crime drama. The finer details of the dial include a hand-painted, true-to-life piano, the distinctive film logo on a black lacquered 18-karat gold plate, and a hand-painted figure of the Godfather with a cigar in his hand.Â
The mechanical highlight is the exclusive JCFM04 movement, comprising 658 components and featuring a built-in music box that plays the first 120 notes of the "Godfather" melody in 30 seconds. It is activated by a push button on the side, which also causes the entire dial and its elements to begin rotating. Another milestone is the exclusive three-axis tourbillon, which stands for the highest precision in watchmaking. All these embellishments and complications make the Jacob & Co. Godfather watch a timeless work of high craftsmanship and a work of art at the same time.Â
