The History of Oris

Founded in 1904 in Hölstein by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, Oris has always pursued mechanical precision. Quickly recognized for its technical, practical watches, the brand became a benchmark. 

In a world of conglomerates, Oris has been independent since the early 1980s and follows its own path with integrity and distinction. 

Almost 30 years ago, Oris still made quartz watches. Today, it is among the few brands dedicated solely to mechanical timepieces—creative, stylish, and authentic. 

What Makes Oris Stand Out?

Oris introduced many groundbreaking ideas, including its first automatic caliber in the 1950s and the recent Oris Calibre 400 with a five-day reserve. Flagship lines like Big Crown and Divers Sixty-Five set new standards in pilot and dive watch segments. 

Led by Ulrich W. Herzog, the brand continues to embody generational values and a commitment to doing what is right.
